Golf Towel Guide — Why Every Bag Needs One (And What To Look For)
What makes a good golf towel, the difference between waffle and microfiber, where to clip it, and why it is one of the best small gifts in golf.

Why A Golf Towel Matters
A clean club face before every shot is the simplest, cheapest performance upgrade in golf. Dirt and debris in the grooves reduces spin and consistency. A towel hanging from the bag ring takes 3 seconds to use and has a real effect on approach shots and wedge play.
Microfiber vs. Waffle
Microfiber dries faster and cleans more effectively at removing debris. Waffle-weave towels hold more moisture and are better for deep cleaning — but take longer to dry between uses. For hot, dry conditions: waffle. For rain or humid rounds: microfiber.
Tri-Fold vs. Loop End
Tri-fold towels fold in thirds with an internal pocket — useful for carrying divot tools or a tee supply. Loop-end towels have a metal grommet at the center and hang from the bag ring on both ends (wet end and dry end), the most practical setup for in-round cleaning.
Clip vs. Loop
A towel without a clip or grommet is almost useless on the course. Make sure any golf towel you buy has a way to hang from the bag. A carabiner or split ring works if the grommet is not included.
Size
Standard golf towels are 16x24 inches minimum. Larger is better for courses where you play in morning dew. Smaller towels miss coverage on club faces and hands.
Gift Angle
A quality golf towel is one of the most universally useful golf gifts — no sizing, immediate value, clear function. One of the easiest first-cart additions for any golfer or gift buyer.
