How to Prepare for a Golf Tournament: Gear, Practice, and Course Strategy

Bag Check the Night Before

Confirm glove, ball count (at least 6), tees (50+), divot tool, ball markers, and rangefinder battery. A dead rangefinder battery on the first tee is avoidable.

Know the Course

Download the GPS course map before arrival. Walk the 1st and 18th holes during the practice round. Note the prevailing wind direction relative to hole orientation.

Pre-Round Putting Routine

Hit 20 putts from 30 feet before every tournament. Track short vs long misses, not just made vs missed. Distance control, not line, causes most three-putts.

WYX Prep Pick

The WYX GPS Watch auto-loads the course before you arrive. The rangefinder backs it up for pin-precise approach yardage. Both under $150. WYX10 for 10% off first order.
