Golf Course Dress Code Guide: What to Wear at Any Club
What golf courses actually require — collar policies, belt rules, footwear, and how to dress for private clubs, resort courses, and public tracks.

The Collar Rule
Most private clubs and many resort courses require a collared shirt — a polo, not a crew neck or T-shirt. A performance golf polo with a self-fabric collar satisfies every collar requirement and works in any condition. A standard cotton T-shirt fails the dress code at courses that enforce it, which is most private and semi-private facilities.
The Belt Question
Many courses require a belt with pants — not enforced at public tracks, but standard at private and member-guest events. A stretch fabric ratchet belt ($24) satisfies any belt requirement and stays in place through the swing. The micro-adjust buckle removes the sizing guesswork that traditional leather belts require.
Hats and Headwear
Forward-facing hats are always acceptable. Backward-facing caps are prohibited at most private clubs. A low-crown structured golf hat ($34) or a wide-brim sun hat ($32) satisfies every course's headwear policy. The visor ($22) is the open alternative for hot rounds where a full cap traps heat.
