How To Use Alignment Sticks (The Right Way)
A practical alignment stick guide for weekend golfers — fix your stance, ball position, and swing path at the range.

The Basics
Lay one stick down the target line, parallel to your feet. This shows you immediately if you are set up square, open, or closed. Most amateurs aim 10–15 yards right of their target and compensate with the swing.
Ball Position Check
Place a stick perpendicular to your stance line, pointing at the target, even with the ball. Every club has an optimal ball position — this makes it visible instead of guessed.
Swing Path Drill
Stick two rods in the ground just outside your target line, forming a gate for the club to pass through at impact. Miss the sticks. The path self-corrects fast.
At Home
Alignment sticks work on any surface — carpet, driveway, grass. You can rehearse setup and tempo without hitting a ball.
